The other review on these boots is nonsense I live in Boston on Beacon Hill. Every day from December to March walk up and down slippery bricks and cobblestones covered in ice and slush, down slippery steps built in the 1800s, and into downtown. I walk 20 minutes to work every day unless its a blizzard. Yes, ice is slippery and no amount of traction is going to stop you from slipping on it if you're not careful. Unless I guess you are wearing ice cleats. I am prone to falling (clumsy) and I feel safe at a fast walk in these on on anything other than thick ice. These boots provide great traction and I love the way they look - I didn't want to look like every other woman in Boston wearing the same pair of boots. I work in an office and these are great to commute in - the black looks professional enough that I don't feel embarrassed wearing my dress pants with them. They are warm and kept my feet dry even when I was in Vermont for New Years hiking through a foot of snow in -10 degrees. They aren't hiking boots and long term hiking would not work with them as snow gets in the top of the boot, but if you live in a city and are looking for something warm and stylish to help you survive the winter I highly recommend these. The only thing I am not a huge fan of is the faux fur lining, but no one's perfect. I will buy these in the ivory color too!

Had high expectations only to be let down I am pretty disappointed with these boots and only gave them a 2 because they look cute. I contacted costumer support asking about another pair of boots for the snow and icy weather here in NYC and the rep suggested these to me. Reading the description of what they are supposed to be capable of I expected them to actually provide more support on the snow, slush, and ice however they do not. Immediately upon stepping on some slush and snow I felt my feet sliding and there wasn't much of it on the ground. I slid almost immediately once I hit the icey portions of the sidewalk, so much for traction and ice griping. The only positives are the boots are cute and keep your feet warm but I paid for them to do more than that.
