CLOSETS ARE FOR SHOES

Being yourself seems so simple yet takes so much courage. And we respect and support everyone for who they are, where they come from, and who they love. Our Pride Collection this year had one simple goal: to communicate a celebration while acknowledging everyone’s journey is different. Some people’s stories are uneventful and fully accepting; others are more complicated, and some are completely gut-wrenching. But all of them are beautiful. And we believe they deserve to be celebrated.

GOLD-LEVEL PFLAG PARTNERSHIP

PFLAG Round_Orange

We believe in the power of water and believe it should be accessible to all that seek it. Our goal is to create a world where all people are respected, valued, and affirmed. A world where all are welcome on the water. So, we will continue to be an ally to the LGBTQIA+ community in our second year partnering with PFLAG National. This year expanding to a full-year, Gold-level partnership.

This partnership is our investment for inclusion everywhere and our commitment to achieving equality for all. From internal learning sessions to collaborative campaigns to life-changing programs, our relationship with PFLAG continues to expand and strengthen every year.

Founded in 1973, PFLAG is the first and largest organization for LGBTQIA+ people, their families, and allies. With hundreds of chapters and 250,000+ members and supporters, PFLAG has incredible reach and visibility—and has been changing hearts, minds, and lives for nearly 50 years.

10 WAYS TO BE A BETTER ALLY

  1. BE OPEN
Talk about having lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) friends, family, colleagues, classmates, and acquaintances.

  2. ASK QUESTIONS
If you don’t know, ask — or do research on your own. If you hear acronyms, pronouns, terminology, or references you’re not familiar with, commit to getting accurate answers and educate yourself. And if you make a mistake? Thank the person for telling you, apologize, and do better next time! Check out PFLAG National’s Straight for Equality program to become a better and stronger ally!

  3. STAY INFORMED
Learn about the realities, challenges, and issues affecting the lives of people who are LGBTQ+ through news stories, social media, websites, books, documentaries, and educational materials.

  4. SPEAK UP
When you hear anti-LGBTQ+ slurs, jokes, or misinformation, say something. Lead with love, declare that you’re an ally, and encourage a more welcoming and inclusive space.

  5. TEACH EQUALITY
Respect pronouns and lead by example by sharing your own. Talk to the children in your life about different kinds of families. Be mindful of the day-to-day messages they receive at school, from friends, online, and on TV.

  6. DONATE
When you are thinking about donating time, talent, or treasure to an organization consider whether they have inclusive policies. If they don’t, ask how you can help or consider another organization.

  7. SUPPORT
Be conscious of where you spend. Support LGBTQ+-owned and friendly businesses that have policies and practices to ensure equal treatment for employees and customers.

  8. ENCOURAGE
And challenge those around you — your organizations, social groups, workplace, or faith community — to consider inclusive policies that protect the LGBTQ+ community from discrimination.

  9. COMMUNICATE
Talk to friends and family, share stories online, and do whatever you can to announce and establish yourself as an ally so others know your respectful and supportive stance.

  10. TAKE ACTION
Call, write, email, or visit public policymakers and let them know you support laws that extend equal rights and protections to all people.

THE 2022 PRIDE COLLECTION

Emphasizing our respect and support for the LGBTQIA+ community, our 2022 Pride Collection features vibrant rainbow colors and a kelp pattern. Fun fact: kelp was chosen because it’s powerful and beautiful. It helps revitalize and feed the ocean, while producing 70% of the world’s overall oxygen. Just as kelp is crucial to our ecosystem, this pattern symbolizes just how crucial the LGTBQIA+ community is to our society.

And while we acknowledge June is a celebratory month, Pride is a year-round initiative. Check back frequently to see how we are continuously supporting the LGBTQIA+ community.
