A crew of top-notch athletic trainers, nutritionists, technicians, and coaches have been working for months to prepare ORACLE TEAM USA for the 35th America’s Cup sailing events. As the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series New York event quickly approaches, sailors are working harder than ever to prepare for the upcoming event.

Sperry spoke with ORACLE TEAM USA Grinder Cooper Dressler and Tactician & Sailing Team Manager Tom Slingsby about their training regimen. Tom Slingsby told Sperry, “The thing that will set us apart will be our preparation.”

Having won with ORACLE TEAM USA in 2013 in the 34th America’s Cup, Slingsby is set on winning the Cup again in 2017. “We’re going to train in every type of condition and make sure that we’re the most fully prepared to win.”

As one of the youngest members of ORACLE TEAM USA, Cooper Dressler says that his experience with the team has pushed him to his limits. “[We] sail as much as we can, we train in the gym as much as we can… You push yourself past the point where you want to give up.”
